Digitize History

It is still beautiful to enter a library full of books and historical documents, where you can see the passage of time. The reality in practical terms is that the passage of time, the environment and many other factors damage physical documents, making their preservation complicated and expensive. The good news is that today, the #digitization of historical documents is a reality, where the content of works of great value and format can be preserved; and at the same time it is allowed to make these documents available to a greater number of people for their appreciation and consultation.

The preservation of documents through digitization is a reality, since it reduces their manipulation and this prevents their deterioration and increases their security. Having digitized historical documents also allows them to be shared on a larger scale, without putting the original physical documents at risk.

Some of the advantages of having a digitized historical collection are:

  • Preservation of physical #documents, since by being able to be consulted digitally, it avoids their physical manipulation and therefore their deterioration.

  • Greater dissemination of documents, since as the documents are digitized, their consultation can be massive, and they can even be printed in different formats.

  • Mass storage, digital documents do not require a physical space for their conservation and care.

  • Reduction of preservation and care costs.

  • During the digitization processes, the handling of the document is done with safe processes, which guarantee good handling and care of the document.

  • All types of historical collection can be digitized, since specialized hardware is available for different formats.

  • Preservation of irreplaceable value historical data.

With the advance of #technology, we will witness the transformation of a physical into a virtual reality, and we will not only be talking about this transformation for the simple fact of having scanned digital documents, but also the use of new technologies such as the use of #OCR, #MachineVision, #MachineLearning among others, will allow the new virtual reality to allow the user to have more pleasant and productive experience with the use of digital #files, and to see #history from a new technological approach that marks the evolution in the form in which the story is told.
